TROUBLE SHOOTING
I was getting a lot of people contacting me about this problem when in fact the problem had nothing to do with their IP address. Are you sure you are getting the "IP address not allowed" message and not the "too many anonymous users? If you are not sure there are two things to try:
1] log on using login/password as upload/upload. You can't download with this password but if you get in, then your IP address is okay.
2] log on to one of the mirror sites - they are less busy than the main site and if you can get in here, then the problem is not your IP address.
If either of the two items above solves your problem then the most likely error you are getting is "too many anonymous users". To be honest, the main site is almost impossible to get to anymore. I didn't plan it this way. I don't want to annoy people. But someone with a lot of traffic linked my page and now I have hundreds of people trying to log in every day. A thousand can try, but the server can only support 7 or 8 at one time (see question 6 of the FAQ). The mirror sites (particularly fansub.org) are better equipped to handle large numbers of entrants and since each of them has a fewer number of files you will have less trouble accessing these sites.
